Meet Lebohang Borotho

Our former student who resides at the centre’s boarding facilities to easily access his educational rights at a nearby mainstream primary school (St Cyprian’s primary school). Lebohang Borotho is a 20 years old person with Physical disability, he is a double orphan living with his grandmother

In 2019 Lebohang was 15 years old and attending school at Thuso centre. He was doing well in his studies and the teacher could realised much progress in his school work which influenced the need for more challenging work for him, Due to his significant progress in his academic subjects and improved reasoning ability that had the potential to develop more, the principal and teachers decided to take him to the neighbouring inclusive school and this was approved by the school board. His home is in a very rural area of Lesotho, being an advocacy for Inclusive Education hence we decided to provide him accommodation at the centre’s residential facilities while attending the inclusive school as well as giving him support on his homework and other school needs. He still goes home during the school holidays. When he first attended St Cyprain’s Primary School in 2020 he was admitted in Grade 3 and he is now in Grade 7 doing well in his school work.

We are thankful to the principal and teachers at St. Cyprain’s Primary School for their courage working in collaboration with our centre and accepting students from Thuso Centre to enjoy their educational rights in an inclusive setting. We are looking forward to more intake of learners with disabilities and make Inclusive Education a reality in the country.

SUPPORT our students on giving tuesday, 28 November

This Giving Tuesday, we are seeking support for construction of vital new facilities at Thuso Centre.

The school’s vocational education programs are crucial in providing training, psycho-social support, and preparing students for a productive and fulfilling future. However, these programs are currently limited by the on-site facilities at the school, prompting the need for a separate vocational centre. This project seeks funding to construct a vocational centre that will provide a safe and functional environment for the students to learn vocational skills and engage in a creative outlet.

This Giving Tuesday, you can help the Thuso Centre to continue supporting children with disabilities to reach their full potential.

We believe that children with disabilities have the right to a healthy life and quality education through appropriate support. Thuso Centre provides a range of activities that support well-being and development for children with disabilities. This Giving Tuesday is the start of Thuso Centre's new fundraising efforts which aim to raise funds for the construction of the new vocational education centre.

With your help, we can continue to support children with disabilities through the provision of free education and training at Thuso Centre.
